Rained out-no video. Do the Blog Post Assignment without having seen a video of yourself swimming.
Blog Post Assignment:
Compare the video and tips to your swim video. Then do the following:
1. Post the link to the swim videos to your personal blog
2. Tag your post gr7, pe
3. Write about one strength and at least one thing you’d like to work on with your backstroke or breaststroke.
Backstroke:
head back, ears in water, look straight up
body like a rocket not a banana, belly button up to the waterline, hips just under waterline
legs kick from hips, pointed toes, flexible ankles, alternating,
toes just break surface, knees stay underwater
little finger of hand enters first, thumb exits first, arm enters at 12 o’clock, pull thru water with bent elbow
shoulders roll, quiet entry, arms enter and exit straight
breath regularly, not holding breath or hyperventilating
timing is: 4-6 beat leg kicks to one arm cycle
Breaststroke:
shoulders parallel to one another, hips just under water and level
legs bend, out, snap
1. legs start together with toes pointed 2. bend knees up, turn feet outwards and lift the toe 3. kick out and around fast to propel you thru the water. Both legs doing the same thing at the same time
fingers together, start with arms outstretched, draw a circle (cake) cut it down middle
breath as your arms pull backward. Face goes back in water as your arms push forward to start position. expel air while face in water. Push chin forward to breath.
timing is: pull, breath, kick, glide
